The Alliance for Water Efficiency is a non-profit organization dedicated to the efficient and sustainable use of water. They serve as a North American advocate for water efficient products and programs, and provide information and assistance on water conservation efforts.

WaterSense is a program of the US Environmental Protection Agency. WaterSense helps people save water with a product label and tips for saving water indoors and out. Products bearing the WaterSense label have been independently certified to perform well; help save water, energy, and money; and and encourage innovation in manufacturing.

NERGY STAR is a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) voluntary program that helps businesses and individuals save money and protect our climate through superior energy efficiency. ENERGY STAR products are independently certified to save energy without sacrificing features or functionality. Saving energy helps prevent climate change. Look for the ENERGY STAR label to save money on your energy bills and help protect our environment.

King County Green Tools Program

The King County GreenTools Program helps builders, residents, businesses and governments create and sustain green buildings, and sustainability policies and programs. The GreenTools Team provides technical assistance, grants, hands-on training, and information necessary to find locally-produced, high quality sustainable building materials and resources. Michael Laurie is a trainer in this program, has developed part of their curriculum, and is a Certified Sustainable Building Advisor. The Program is one of the longest running and most effective green building education programs in the industry. We aim to increase the capacity of green building professionals in the industry by offering a comprehensive program to working professionals.

Michael Laurie is a trainer in this program, and has developed curriculum for it. Building Operator Certification (BOC®) is a nationally recognized, competency-based training and certification program that offers facilities personnel the improved job skills and knowledge to transform workplaces to be more comfortable, energy-efficient and environmentally friendly. The BOC credential is recognized by employers across the country as a sign of the value and contributions certified facilities management personnel can bring to their organizations.

Brecht Deriemaeker and Nick Tittle co-founded Surplus Permaculture Design, an international Permaculture Designers Cooperative. They also have managed the Panya Project, Permaculture Education Centre in Northern Thailand, since 2011. We at Heartstad are delighted that they have agreed to teach our first permaculture design certificate course in September 2014

Aprovecho Research Center has published various manuals on cooking and heating technology which are written for a non-technical audience in simple, unintimidating language, with easy-to-follow diagrams. Aprovecho has also published papers in scientific journals such as Boiling Point and Energy for Sustainable Development in order to make data regarding lab and field stove performance and global warming impact accessible to the wider scientific community.
